NMELRC Hebrew Seminar 2010

University of Denver
The
National Middle East Language Resource Center (NMELRC) will offer its 2010 Seminar
for College and K-12 Teachers of Hebrew on October 30-31, 2010, at the
University of Denver [please note that the location has been changed from the
University of Kansas to DU]. The Seminar will be co-chaired by
Shmuel Bolozky and Sari Havis; its
main topic will be assessment in general, and its focus will be
listening comprehension: developing listening comprehension clips, guidelines
on how to determine the
levels of such clips as assessment measures, and principles on how to measure
students’ progress in listening proficiency. Other presentations will offer some pedagogical solutions to
issues of concern in the Hebrew classroom.
A limited
number of stipends will be offered on a first-come first-serve basis to
participants whose institutions cannot cover their hotel stay. Efforts to accommodate as many
participants as possible will be made and early registration is encouraged.
Please apply online, using the NMELRC link application form.
Applications
must be filed by October 1, 2010.
Fee: A registration fee of $100.00

When
possible, NMELRC Hebrew seminars are conducted during week days, yet at times,
due to rooms’ and presenters’ availability, seminars are to take place on
weekends, Shabbat included. In such cases, still, an effort is made to
facilitate attendance of observant colleagues by providing walking distance
accommodations, Kosher meals, etc.
We regret any inconvenience or offense a weekend seminar might cause.
