All TÖMER branches feature the same language teaching standard and make
use of the same technique and approaches, as well as the same lesson
programs and resources. [See Turkish Study Abroad home] Teachers at all
branches are employed by the TÖMER Directorate and sent to TÖMER
branches after completing an orientation program.
TÖMER Branches organize cultural activities so that the process of
language teaching can be consolidated. There are meeting and farewell
parties at the start and end of each semester; there are also trips to
nearby historical and tourist sites, picnics, concerts and debates. All
these activities aim to promote Turkish culture and provide means for
learners to get to know each other better. TÖMER Kizilay and Tunali
branches in Ankara together provide language learning facilities that
are very adequate.
TÖMER also has branches in several other locations in Turkey, but we
have no first-hand information about the quality and effectiveness of
teaching at those sites.

Turkish American Association, TAA Turkish Teaching Center
Cinnah Caddesi 20, Kavaklidere-Ankara, Turkey
TAA was founded in 1951, and has been offering cultural and language
programs ever since. The Turkish Teaching Center is located close to
the center of Ankara, the capital of Turkey, in new quarters with
suitable classrooms. They offer all levels of language instruction,
with additional tutorials built in for anyone to take advantage of. The
coordinator of the Turkish programs has many years of experience in the
field of language teaching, and is also very energetic and fully
committed to the students. There are many extracurricular activities,
excursions and lectures, all considered a vital component of the
program to expose students to the varied cultural landscape of Turkey.
Exposure to the language and language instruction continues during
these events.
All language skills are emphasized, although the oral performance
aspects more so at the early stages of the process. Help with locating
home-stays, dorms, or shared apartments is available.
