University of Maryland Offers Persian Studies Program

The Center for Persian Studies at the University of Maryland has established a Certificate of Professional Studies in Persian.

This professional certificate has two components. In the first year, students are immersed in the Persian world language and culture at the Center for Persian Studies in sheltered content area courses. In the second year, students are scheduled to be sent to the University of Dushanbe in the Republic of Tajikistan for further studies in Persian.

The federal government provides full funding for U.S. citizens ($30,000) provided they make a commitment to work for a federal department for at least 2 years. Full information about this funding is available at: http://www.ndu.edu/nsep/#AWARDS.

Those who do not qualify for such funding will be considered for a University of Maryland scholarship worth $4000 a year.
